A Modern Momento Mori

A Modern Momento Mori
This piece was created back in early 2021 as a way to sort of immortalize certain things at the time. The idea was to capture a typical Momento Mori painting from around the Renaissance era, but with a more modern and personal flare.

The computer in the image represents my old computer, which no longer functions as intended but was where I got my start doing a lot of the art and video editing I do now.

The screen is a reference to that further, containing a Vegas crash screen for a project I was working on at the time. The project was an edited down version of some close friends raving through Sonic 1 and 2, two games that have also impacted me very deeply.

The last personal touch was the Daft Punk helmet of Thomas Bangalter, as this was made just after Daft Punk announced they were done making music. Their songs have given me a lot of influence throughout my life, and I was sad to see them end (though very happy it ended on a mutual "yeah, we're just done with the project" rather than some kind of fight).

There's also a pocket watch, which is a more modern take on the classic symbol for time.
